Devlog 11: Polish Week 2
Hello everyone!
This is our very last devlog. This means that our game is now completely finished and ready to be played by all! This is the final list of changes we made to bring our game to the next level.
Art
Environment:
- Overall color unifying pass
- Bugged shadows got fixed
- Missing shadows got added
- Post process adjusted
- Added moving texture to ramps and treadmills
Level Design:
- Item spawn positions were changed
- More rigidbodies objects were added to the level
- More NPC's were added to the level
- Overall collision fix pass
- Gym area obstacles moved for a better experience
UI:
- Speedbar visuals got updated
- Loading Screen was designed and implemented
Technical
One of the biggest changes this week is the player selection screen. This received a big overhaul this week. Player controls are shown for both XBOX and PS controllers and we made it more clear when the main level is loaded.
Changes to the HUD:
- We added lines that divide splitscreen.
- We changed the countdown sequence. First the "Get Ready" text is shown and each player has their player icon shown, after a couple of seconds this icon fades to the minimap and the coutndown starts.
- The player position and lap counter have a claerer size.
- A warning icon is displayed when the player is going the wrong way.
- When playing with 3 players, the minimap is displayed in the bottom right corner
When all players are finished, the HUD is swapped by a text telling the player how to restart the game or either quit the game, that's right, we finally added a quit button if you for some reason want to quit the game.
General bug fixes:
- The "SeeThroughShader" is fixed, previously the shader was applied if the last player was behind a supported object, now it activates for all players.
- Any pickup held by a player gets destroyed when the game is restarted.
- The UI now correctly resets when the game is restarted
- The coffee puddle cant spawn in the air anymore
- The player sending the drone cannot attack themself when they become first, the drone will then target the second player.
Update to items:
- The fire extinguisher has been nerfed; the boost is shorter and less powerfull
- When you are hit by the drone, your screen starts shaking as a reaction to the explision
RFX Implementation:
- When colliding with a yoga ball
- Smoke when pushing in the red
- Trail effect when hitting a perfect/green push
- When using the fire extinguisher
- When the player is stunned
- Smoke effect for the gas pipes.
